Jedi-mom trick # 39

I was terrified of ALL animals! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And nature for that matter.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
My mom was terrified too, so I grew up “protected” from all things nature. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I now know that it was a Fear of the unknown, which made me a scared and anxious child. #scaredycat⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I don’t want that for my kids. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So I’m letting them immerse themselves in nature.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
No matter how muddy⁣⁣
bug-filled and toad filled it looks like.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
He originally didn’t want to hold this little guy, and we respected that. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
My husband then proceeded to give him fun facts about toads which seemed to change my sons mind because here he is, toad in hand despite his fears.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
“𝘐𝘵’𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘢 𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘮 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘦𝘦𝘵𝘩!” ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Cheers to raising the kind of kids that aren’t afraid of telling others when and why they’re afraid. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The next generation will be truly courageous à la Brené Brown #VulnerabilityIsCourage ⁣⁣

What did you do for EarthDay? ⁣⁣
