Jedi-mom Trick # 37

I have NO IDEA WHAT I’m doing! 😱⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I’ve been at a loss for words (for once) ⁣⁣
Trying to figure out how to answer questions about the Covid-19 outbreak without scaring my preschooler. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
For parents of young children, feelings are ALREADY dramatic. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Young kids can go from from minor discomforts and inconveniences to overwhelming fear and grief in a span of minutes. 🥵🥶💣⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Caring for children is challenging enough without these additional stressors.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Yet here we are, no blueprint, no practice, pushed directly into a deep sea of uncertainty.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
So naturally… I overthought this to death.🙃⁣⁣
⁣⁣
When he asked me (𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦) why we couldn’t visit with his beloved grandparents, I told him the truth plainly. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
And it went like this: ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
“There’s a virus, and it’s 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 good at making lots and lots of people sick! So good that everyone got asked to stay home until everyone feels better”.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
“We will go back when everyone gets better mom?” ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
“Yes.”⁣⁣
⁣⁣
“Okay. Can I have more applesauce?”⁣
⁣⁣
Anticlimactic, no fear or worry outside of my own imagination 🙃. (𝘞𝘩𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴?)⁣ 𝐈𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐞?⁣
⁣⁣
I have to constantly remind myself to stop underestimating kids!⁣
⁣
They can handle it.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Jedi-mom trick of the day (swipe ➡️) is a reminder of that. ⁣
⁣
𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐠𝐨 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐤𝐢𝐝𝐬? ⁣
