Girl, Stop Apologizing : A shame-free plan for embracing and achieving your goals.
I am a leader. I am a teacher. I’ve built two successful companies through hard-work and hustle. And the wealth of knowledge that can be found from a Google search bar.Girl, Stop apologizing – Rachel Hollis
Don’t let her small-size and sweet smile fool you, Rachel Hollis is a badass warrior princess that doesn’t take no for an answer. She’s a mom of 4, a wife to her co-podcast host, an entrepreneur, a Motivational speaker and a 2X New York Times Bestselling author and and and! My goal is simple even if it’s grandiose: I want women to understand that they have the power to change their lives.Girl, Stop apologizing – Rachel Hollis
Women. Specifically moms who feel the heavy hand of the patriarchy through the harsh criticism of wanting more than living for others be it their husbands, kids and family.
I’m building a media empire around the idea. No I did not misspeak. Yes just said “a media empire” not a company, not a side hustle, not a small business, an empire.Girl, Stop apologizing – Rachel Hollis
What it’s about?
Girl, Stop Apologizing is about Rachel Hollis’ smashing successes, and the mindshift change she needed to embark on to get where she is now. Not exactly a “rags to riches” story, but kind of! This woman is wildly humble and shares her many imperfections in this book to prove that she’s human, despite all of our doubts.
Three key takeaways
1 – Fear, self-doubt & Shame are taught behaviors. Most women feel copious amounts of this trinity.
2 – There will be pushback to pursuing your biggest goals from the places you least expect.
3 – Stop apologizing doesn’t being you who are.
The world tells me that ‘Good girls don’t hustle’ and they certainly don’t stick a fish in the ground and audaciously shout that they want to be a media mogul.Girl, Stop apologizing – Rachel Hollis
Girl, Stop Apologizing blatantly calls bullshit on gender inequalities of entrepreneurship & business venture success. She speaks about the undercurrent of all of it, and how micro-aggressions against women striving for more financial freedom, especially after kids is REAL. She’s not wrong, we’ve all heard it “You’re going back to work? Oh” *disapproval* “Not going back to work? Oh.” *disapproval*. Haters will do what they do best, and that shouldn’t concern you! Live you life.
Don’t you hate it when an author starts a chapter with a quote?Girl, Stop apologizing – Rachel Hollis
There’s a touch more self-deprecating jokes than I care for in Girl, Stop Apologizing. Rachel Hollis wrote the above mentioned quote after starting a chapter with a quote. Making fun of herself and how ridiculous she’s being is indirectly mocking the reader for choosing to read her book. The shame she speaks of is oftentimes abundant In the reader! It’s in the title and may be the reason they picked it up. A tad more sensitivity to the vulnerability of the readers would be appreciated.
“Assuming that someone thinks the worst of you when you have no real evidence to back that up isn’t about them, it’s about you. You’re letting their opinion control your life.”Girl, Stop apologizing – Rachel Hollis
